I lose at life. Or maybe just at blogging.

There's a quote from an old movie actress that goes something like, "It's the good girls who keep diaries; the bad ones don't have the time." It's not the good ones who do, it's the bored ones! I haven't done much knitting lately because I haven't had much time to, and when I don't knit I don't blog either. The thing that sucks is that I've had mass amounts of time that I sat and did nothing, only it was stuck sitting at school, and thus it was extremely unproductive.

I will take pictures of Lelah and get them up sometime soon, I promise! I've been such a slacker with taking WIP/FO pictures lately. (I still haven't even taken pictures of the boobholder from weeks ago!) I just haven't been able to find a ribbon, so I feel like I can't take a picture until it's totally complete. I might make some I-cord with my spiffy I-cord maker, but I'm not sure. I also need to get another tube top to go underneath it, because it's definitely see-through on the top. Although, I could go total white trash and wear it over a tank top. haha! (which is probably what I'll do if I wear it under a cardigan)

On Friday, I was at the bookstore looking at (duh!) knitting magazines. I looked at the newest Interweave Knits, and decided not to buy it because it was $7 and I'm practically broke, blah blah blah. STUPID! I wish I had. I skimmed it, and that was the worst mistake. Now I know what I'm missing! I really want to read that article on shrugs, because I think I want to make one, but I haven't found a specific pattern I like. Anyway, I'm going to have to go back and buy that, possibly tomorrow.

Knitting update: all I'm working on right now are scaves. And it's killing me. White seed stitch scarf, blue and yellow striped 2x2 rib, and a purple Clapotis adaptation. I also have a green chenille scarf for my mom that I need to finish. Ugh! I really want to get back to work on my afghan, but I haven't made it to the LYS in ages.

I looked at that bag before, Christine, and I really like it. It's definitely on my to-knit list. I love knitting bags so much! I have a love for purses and stuff, so I'm sure that's why.

I definitely need to work on my actual page. It's pretty bare. I never really noticed it. And I need to put an 'about me' up, because that's definitely my favorite subject! (I'm a narcissist, what can I say?)

Okay, I decided to totally get rid of my diaryland account, so I put a bunch of my old posts from there up here! So if you read January-March, those are all old diaryland posts that used to have comments and stuff. They're all good ones, because I picked and chose what to post here. The illusion knitting page was going to be the only thing I brought over, but I liked a few others too much to get rid of them permanently. So if you're ever really bored, feel free to check that stuff out, or re-read it if you read me way back when!

I'm baaaaaaack!

I'm sure you thought I died, but I didn't. (Or I resurrected) I had a crazy week and weekend, so I didn't get around to posting, although I wanted to!

I finished Lelah today! It is drying right now, and it turned out wonderfully! I will take some pictures so Christine can add it to her gallery already chock full of Lelahs other people have made. I really liked making it, because I didn't get bored with it at all, which is somewhat rare for me. My sister supposedly wants a white or red one, so I might get to make it again! Yes!

Since Kaitlyn asked and that just reminded me, I do Scottish Highland dance, and just danced in my first championship over the weekend. (A championship doesn't mean I'm good, anyone can dance. It just means you do certain dances and specific steps.) I didn't do very well in it, and only place in one dance (I got a fifth in the Sword dance). The next day when we did the fun dances, I did all right and placed 5th across the board. Considering the girls I competed against, I'm happy with fifths. (For anyone who knows about Highland, I danced Hornpipe, Jig, Blue Bonnets, and Village Maid.) Plus, I made $45 in prize money! Not much, but I broke even on the entry fee, plus some. Yarn money! YES!

You know, I'm really not sure what I want to knit next. I wasn't really impressed with anything in the newest knitty, and I can't really think of anything I've been dying to knit. Hm. Any suggestions? I'm sure there is something I'd like to do, but I just can't think of what it is. =\

Entry on the sly ...

Gosh, I'm really having a great time entering grades. TAing is wonderful. NOT! Anyway, it lets me blog so I cannot really complain.

I cast on and started Christine's Lelah top last night! I got one repeat done, and I'm really excited about it. Knitting lace is so much fun!

I finished my boobholder (test version), and I'm not really sure if I want to make another one to actually wear. I'm not sure what changed my mind about it so much, but the more I think about it the less I think I'm really going to end up wearing it. =\ I don't know. I'll take and put up some pictures once I get home.

I have been swamped with stuff to do lately. UGH! I'm going to have to weekend from heaven/hell this weekend. It's going to be way weird. I'm going to ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL shows on Friday and Saturday night, but I have a huge dance competition Saturday and Sunday, and it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm not going to do well. (I'm not just being modest. We're doing steps, I can barely get through them, and I'm competing against great dancers.) So it's going to be really weird. I'm usually in a really good mood after good shows, but this competition is going to kill me. I am SOOOOO nervous! ("I'm about to have a nervous breakdown. My head really hurts ...")

I think I should get back to school related things, and I also think I will update again when I get home.

I am bad at making up titles

Yesterday, I broke down and bought some 29" #9s at Rite Aid, of all places. I just had to work on the boobholder, and I knew I wasn't going to make it to the LYS until Saturday at the earliest. I've worked on it a lot more, and it's still going great. While I was at Rite Aid, I also got some cheapo 100% cotton stuff. I'm not quite sure what I'll actually do with it, but hey it was $2 a ball. And this brings me to my pet peeve of the day: when labels on list WEIGHT and not YARDAGE! I don't weigh my projects, so it really does me NO GOOD! I'm sure there's a way to figure it out, but would it kill them to just put the freakin' yardage on the label?! I sat there searching for it, hoping it was just one of those moments where something is so obvious but you just don't see it. But no. It's just not there. Anyway, I've never knit with cotton, so this should be interesting.

I'm also going to make Toni yet another scarf, but I'm not sure what I should do this time. She wants it white and skinny, so it needs to be very spring-ish. I'm leaning towards something lacy, or maybe just simple seed stitch. I'm not sure yet.

Random thought: I washed my hair and didn't blow dry it, but instead just left it up in a towel for a while. I took it out, and it was CURLY! I always blow dry and straighten my hair, so I hadn't seen it naturally in probably years. I thought it was a little wavy, but no! I've practically got ringlets. I might have to start doing my hair like that. It's a helluva lot easier ...

KIP, boobholder, and a future Lelah?

That last entry not getting posted was totally my stupid fault. I almost always do what Christine suggested and copy my stuff before I post it. It was just one of those times when I wrote my little hands off and was so into posting it that I didn't worry about anything else. Usually I spell check my stuff too, having to copy and paste it and thus saving it, but not that time. =\ Anyway ...

I've been knitting like a crazy woman lately, and I'm getting ideas for the next things I'm going to make. I think my mama might be taking me to the LYS this weekend so I can get crackin' on her afghan. She wants a red/wine/burgundy color, so I'm sure that will be easy to find.
I decided, on a whim, to make the boobholder/minisweater from glampyre which would be going well so far except I've got one little problem. The only pair of #9 needles I have is a 10 inch pair. I guess I just haven't done many projects that call for #9s and haven't needed any circulars or anything in that size. But let me tell you, 100+ stitches do NOT fit on 10" needles! My needles are stuffed full of stitches, but I just can't stop working on that thing! And now, I'm only even working on a test version, as I'm not sure how I should fit it, and whenever I do two versions of things the second one comes out GREAT. Anyway, I'm thinking that I will love this, and it will be great over halter tops and tanks for summer.
Also, even though normally I am a sworn hater of the tube top, (I first listened to the band Reel Big Fish because they have a song called "Ban the Tube Top"!) I think I'm going to have to knit Christine's Lelah top. It's just too cute, and I need some more summer tops. I've tried to stay strong, but the more I see it the more I realize I'm going to have to make it. So it's on my "to knit" list. (I went through and erased a few things from my "to knit" list last knit, so it's rather towards the top, actually. Along with another design from glampyre, Bad Penny.)

I was working on the Clapotis scarf today in class, and the girls that sit next to me were admiring it. I got to the dropped stitch part, and let them watch me unravel it all the way down, and they were so into it! So this scarf will probably be going to be given to one of them once it's done. I just wish the one of them who knows how to knit would pick up her needles again! (MICHELLE!)

Well, I'm off to do some stuff (how descriptive, huh?) and then I have dance class. Let's hope I can keep from stangling annoying kids!

UGH!

I love it when I take my time typing up a post and my session expires before I can get it posted! ARGH! Maybe more once I cool off!

Cables, Clapotis, and some other crap.

I woke up Friday morning and decided, "Fuck going to school." So I ended up sitting home and knitting for a good part of the day. I got to watch "Knit One, Purl Two" in diynetwork for the first time. I wasn't really that impressed. The thing they were making (a baby swetaer) was probably one of the ugliest things I've ever seen knit. Overall, it just didn't have a "feel" I was into. I'm not really sure what made me dislike it. So I'm not too bummed that this only comes on when I'm in school. I sat around and worked on the afghan, which is going well. I've only done the braid cable and horseshoe cable panels, but I'm really stoked about this. I can't wait to do all the crazy-ass cables that are in some of the other panels. medium_ropecable.jpg medium_horseshoecable.jpg

I also started Clapotis as a scarf, because I wasn't really feeling the whole shawl thing. I know I am never going to wear a shawl, and it seemed a little bulky for a scarf. So I'm using thinner yarn, and I'm liking it so far. medium_000_0719.jpg

And I'm so happy to see I made Christine's frequently-read blogs list! I feel honored! =)

Busy busy busy

I have been having the busiest week of my life, so I haven't really had time to update and take pictures. But I will so. After I got done making my "masion d'etre" from french class, typing up a resume, and writing a 20-30 minute script for drama. And that's all due tomorrow. Looks like I'm going to have quite a night!

Who needs a title?

Not me. I started on the cabled afghan from Knitty Gritty (which I'd love to link but diynetwork.com links never seem to work), and it's going very well. I've done a little more than half of the rope cable panel, which is already boring the hell out of me. I have a love/hate thing going on with cabling. I love the look and sometimes it's fun, but it's really just a huge pain in the ass. And the best thing about this blanket is that all my seaming is done on garter, and I am a master at seaming garter! Especially top to bottom seams. I will totally get pictures up once I get something substantial done.

New episode of Knitty Gritty tonight! YES! And supposedly DIYNetwork is going to show the show Knit One, Purl Two this week, also. I think they're all on while I'm in school though. =

Well, I'm off to finish off some leftover chow mein. (Too bad I hate vegetables and have to painstakingly pick out every single sprout and piece of lettuce!) And I'm currently listening to the song who's lyrics were tweaked for my title! Yay Comeback Kid!

I hate today.

So my day pretty much went from great to horrible. I got my hair cut this morning, (just trimmed) and that turned out well. I went to Target, and bought a new bra and some undies and a new bathing suit because I'm already thinking about Hawaii in June. I went out to lunch with my mom and my sister. And all day, I've been stoked about going to a show tonight, which is now not going to happen because I have no ride. Great. Now my whole night is fucked up, and it's too late to plan anything or go anywhere. I'd better be able to go to the LYS tomorrow.

I've been feeling rather uninspired with knitting lately, so I haven't done much.
